The Amazing Sniper Snub

I‘m going to be completely honest with you. This little 3 inch worm just might be the most ridiculous looking, dumb and basically nothing little bait you will ever see. I bet there is a few anglers that have received samples of the Snub that have just tossed them aside all the while thinking, what is this, some kind of joke ? Hmmmm ? no joke ……… or is it ? Jokes on the angler that chooses to ignore.

The Amazing Snub, the truly amazing Snub. This little bait has the most amazing track record of any bait I have ever seen bar none. It has won everything in the Northwest, everything ! B.A.S.S. Kennewick Open, ABA NW championships, NW BASS championships and now the 2008 FLW National Guard on the Columbia. Not to mention countless club tourney’s as well as many, many NW BASS and ABA team tournaments.

Don’t get me wrong. We all know the angler has to present the bait. We all know knowledge and technique come into play. But let me be the first to tell you that there is quite the list of extremely talented, skilled and accomplished anglers that will say the Snub is their “go to” drop shot bait. There is a lot to be said about a bait that has a list of anglers like the Snub has that consider the Snub a confidence bait.

The Snub is a 3” ribbed worm that was born on Lake Washington in 2001. I needed a little 3 inch worm to drop shot with after witnessing a non tournament angler literally knocking the crap out of 4’s and 5’s drop shotting a little 3 inch worm. I wasn’t knocking the crap out of anything. I had enough, I went home developed the first Snubs. Came back out to the next ABA team a week later and the rest is history. Although the Drop Shot technique was introduced to the NW quite some time ago, the Snub seriously introduced the drop shot technique to probably 90% of the NW anglers that drop shot today.

The Snub is produced in all the favorite colors. But there is a few colors that Sniper has developed that are truly Sniper colors or lets put it this way Snipers better version. Color # 2032 Green Pumpkin Pepper Copper is a must have as well as color# 2035 Sand. Color# 2000 is Cinnamon Smoke Pepper that mirrors a very well known popular color. And color# 2001 Green pumpkin Pepper is extremely popular. Color # 2006 Dark Brown started it all. Colors 2032 and 2006 are Sniper exclusive. Color # 2035 is a better version of Sand.

OK, now it’s time to name drop. The talented up and coming FLW pro Ron Hobbs Jr. grew up with the Snub. In fact, Ronald Jr. and Ron Hobbs Sr. are both why the Snub is where it is at today. Sniper owes quite a bit of gratitude to these two guys. Dave Kromm won back to back championships with the Snub. ABA with Lucas Elder and the very next week NW BASS with Ron Mace. Let’s see, 2 weeks, 2 boats …………….color# 2032. Then Dave won the 2008 FLW National Guard Columbia River round catching a high percentage of his key fish with the Snub. Dennis Brush and Blake Brush were an untouchable father and son team with the Snub while they fished ABA together. But before Dennis and Blake there was Dennis and Greg Petroskie right along side of Jr. and Sr Hobbs. Again, these guys made the Snub what it is today.

The 2008 NW BASS Championship was virtually dominated by the Sniper Snub. Jeff Abbott and Rob Flowers capped it off with a win utilizing the drop shot technique, again with the Sniper Snub. This team also won the 2007 NW BASS Championship. Dr Jim Garrett and Brian Krestian finished 3rd drop shotting the Snub. It goes on and on. I think it is safe to say I didn’t hear the B word not even once. In fact this tourney very much resembled a tour tourney where all you hear is BG only this one was all Sniper Snub.

One thing for certain is I knew I had something from the beginning. What I didn’t know is that so would everybody else. And for that I am very proud. So I might as well pump myself up a bit. The Snub played a large part of my self making the State Team 2002, 2003 and 2004. The Snub also played a huge part with my self and my NW BASS partner and great friend Ron Jordan’s NW BASS top ten for 2008. Don’t ask Ron about what the Snub has done for him. Unless you have that kind of time. Dude has put together some big bags with the little worm.

What else can I say other than …………… truly amazing !
